The Importance of Basic Obedience – Dog Training Fort Worth Blog
Basic obedience training is essential to all of our training programs. It goes hand-in-hand with proper leash handling techniques. These are the only two training methods that will be a consistent requirement in every dog’s individual training program.
Some owners are looking for nothing more than basic obedience training. We can achieve this through in-home training, giving you and your dog one-on-one attention, working around your schedule, and keeping you and your dog in the comfort of your own home. We can also achieve basic obedience training through our group training option, Practical Pet Protocol. In fact, basic obedience is the only type of training we perform in a group setting. All other behavioral concerns (aggression, hyperactivity, leash reactivity, anxiety, etc) require basic obedience training, but they also requite more detailed attention.
As you may have guessed, basic obedience training is essential because it does more than just teach your dog to obey a few commands; it helps to strengthen the bond of trust and respect between you and your dog. This bond is essential for communication to be effective and for your dog to look at you as a leader. It also helps your dog learn to maintain focus on you, rather than on the many distractions that have been tearing his/her attention away from you.
Every dog can benefit from basic obedience training, so as long as you’re willing to dedicate some time and effort to helping your dog achieve this level of excellence, you’ll also learn skills that will benefit you and all of the dogs you own throughout your lifetime.
